CFO-managed financial services for growing businesses
Accurate books, reliable financials, and strategic guidance from a CPA with 40 years of executive financial experience without the cost of a full-time hire.
The DNA of Financial ClarityAt a fraction of the cost
Solving your problems.
❋ You’ve outgrown your bookkeeper
Your current bookkeeper keeps the records but can't tell you what they mean.
You need someone who understands the numbers — and what to do with them.
❋ You need a partner, not a vendor
You need someone who picks up the phone, reviews your cash flow before you ask, and flags problems before they become crises. That's what we do.
❋ You're not ready for a full-time CFO
A full-time CFO costs $150,000 - $250,000 per year, plus benefits. That’s a big commitment when what you really need is strategic financial oversight, not another W-2 employee.

About Jim Klein
Jim Klein has spent more than four decades as a financial executive — not an accountant who became a consultant, but a CFO who has sat at the executive table, reported to boards of directors, executed IPOs, raised hundreds of millions in capital, and built financial operations from the ground up. As co-founding CFO of Triangle Pharmaceuticals, he helped grow the company from inception to a NASDAQ-listed business with a market cap exceeding $500 million. At Adherex Technologies, he led a successful initial public offering and managed all financial reporting across U.S. and Canadian regulatory frameworks. As a founder himself — having built and sold DataScout Software — he understands the pressures business owners face.
Jim founded Helix Accounting because most growing businesses deserve better financial stewardship than a bookkeeping service can provide — but aren't yet ready to hire a full-time CFO. Helix was built to fill that gap.
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in North Carolina, a member of both the NCACPA and AICPA, and a 1998 recipient of the Carolinas Council Institute of Management Accountants Financial Executive of the Year award. He holds an Executive Management Program education from London Business School, Duke's Fuqua School of Business, and UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
